Asif Kapadia and Sean McAllister to attend Galway Documentary Event

Talking Documentary, Galway Film Centre’s annual Film and TV seminar will take place on January 15th and 16th, 2016 with special guests Asif Kapadia (AMY, SENNA) and Sean McAllister (A SYRIAN LOVE STORY). It will consist of 2 days of talks, panel discussions and screenings on many aspects of documentary and will be run in association with Creative Europe Galway, the BAI, TG4, the IFB and Screen Training Ireland.

Kildare Film Commission

Kildare County Council wishes to further develop its support for film production in the county, by commissioning two original films to be shot in County Kildare.  Under this commission scheme, two awards of €15,000 will be made.  The awards will be made towards the cost of the film production.  Short film, feature film, documentary, animation, experimental and artist films will all be considered.  Applications are invited for original script ideas from filmmakers at all stages of their development.

Dúiche - Mayo episode

This week on TG4 (6th & 8th Dec) Dúiche saw Síle Nic Chonaonaigh in Mayo in the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life. Dúiche is a weekly Lifestyle show presented by Síle and it is produced by Open Eye Television.   The programme featured Onsite which took place in the grounds of the Museum over the Summer.

Loopline Film was established in 1992 by Sé Merry Doyle to produce high-quality documentaries.  In 2010/2011 Loopline Film made Dreaming the Quiet Man, a documentary with a Mayo connection.  This documentary includes interviews with aficionados of Ford like, Martin, Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovicz, Jim Sheridan, William Dowling,  and Joe McBride.

Loopline Film was established in 1992 by Sé Merry Doyle to produce high-quality documentaries.  One documenatry that Loopline Film made in 2010/2011 with a Mayo connection is Kathleen Lynn – The Rebel DoctorKathleen Lynn was Chief Medical Officer of the Irish Citizen Army, suffragette, doctor and founder of St Ultan’s hospital in Dublin’s Charlemont St.  This film documents the extraordinary life of Kathleen Lynn, the daughter of a Protestant Cannon in the West of Ireland.
