Galway Picture Palace to receive completion funding

Galway’s new arthouse cinema, the Picture Palace, has been allocated €735,000 for the completion of the cinema, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys.

The new building, which is led by film-maker Lelia Doolan, is designed by architect Tom de Paor, with a window by the late Patrick Scott. Situated close to the Galway City Museum and Spanish Arch, the venue will include a three-screen cinema, a cafe, and bookshop.

Mayo County Council Tyrone Guthrie Regional Bursary Scheme 2015

Mayo County Council are offering two special bursary awards to artists born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. Each bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if necessary.

There are a variety of workspaces available including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, and a large rehearsal and performance space.

The Arts Council announces deadline for Reel Art 2015

Launched in 2008, Reel Art is designed to provide film artists with a unique opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme.  Operated in association with Filmbase and the Dublin International Film Festival, Reel Art will wholly support two films with grants of €70-€80,000 per project.  Reel Art films will premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival in February 2017. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 16 October 2015 at 17:00.

Ideas Generation for Film & TV for Mayo Ideas Week with Pam Relton

An Ideas Generation workshop for Film and T.V professionals will take place on Friday 2nd October in Macalla Hall, Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, Co. Mayo from 9.30 am to 5pm.  This innovative event, part of Mayo Ideas Week, is an initiative of Mayo Arts Offices’ Film Mayo and Inspiration Station.  The training will be given by Pam Relton, one of the UK’s leading media trainers who specializes in creativity courses.

The Field 25th Anniversary Festival September 25th - 26th Leenan

It was 25 years ago that the village of Leenane took centre stage in Jim Sheridan's movie, The Field. Many people from the village took their place in front of the camera alongside Sean Bean, John Hurt, Brenda Fricker, Tom Berenger and of course, the oscar nominated Richard Harris. To celebrate the anniversary, Leenane Village is planning a series of events this September.

on Friday 10th July at 8pm at Ballina Arts Centre, Barrett St., Ballina, Co. Mayo.  The Exhibition runs until 29th August.  This work has been made possible by an Arts Council of Ireland Project Award and Mayo County Council.

TG4 broadcast & Fleadh Screening - Nancy Corrigan - Spéirbhean Acla
