Presentation and Mentoring with Screenwriter Eugene O'Brien in Castlebar. 9th of Dec

Screenwriter Eugene O Brien (of Pure Mule & Eden fame) is one of the writers giving a screenwriting presentation and short mentoring opportunities in Mayo on Saturday 9th of December.

This free event is aimed at Mayo writers and is provided by Film Mayo and Mayo Arts Service. Booking is required for attending the presentation and mentoring availability is by a submission process which closes Thursday 30th of November.

Documentary Ted's Adventure: Mayo to Peru plays the Linenhall Arts Centre tonight

Ted's Adventure: Mayo to Peru is a documentary that tells the incredible story of the Irish tourist who became a ‘Porter’ on the world’s most famous tourist trail. Castlebar native Jarlath McHale became the first non-Peruvian to walk the trail as a worker.  The documenaty screens in the Linenhall Arts Centre tonight (Thursday 9th November) at 8pm.

Film Mayo Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Closes November 6th

Film Mayo is offering a special bursary award to filmmakers born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. Workspaces, board and lodging expenses will be provided for in the award.  Applicants should show significant achievement in their field or demonstrate a high degree of promise. Applications are assessed by an independent expert selection board (appointed by Mayo County Council).

Achill Born Documentary Maker's Documentary on TG4

Ag Trasnú an Atlantaigh Dhuibh (Crossing the Black Atlantic) will be broadcast on TG4 tomorrow night Wednesday the 18th of October at 9.30pm. Directed by Des Kilbane and Andrew Gallimore, the documentary is an action-packed narrative laced with southern belles, fights to the death and tales of debauchery and destitution all seen through the eyes of a compelling but tragic character.  Documentary maker, Des Kilbane, is originally from Achill Island.  The documentary had its world premiere early this year at the Galway Film Fleadh.

It’s Showtime! GMarsh TV children's series for RTÉjr

Produced by GMarsh TV for RTÉjr, this lively children’s series follows kids and their families to see how they get their beloved sheep, ponies and calves ready to enter the local show. Kicking off the series, 7- year-old Zara Sharkey introduces us to her pony Powder and shows just how much work goes into getting her groomed, practicing her jumps and even getting her teeth polished

The transmission date is Monday 30th of October 2017 on RTÉjr .  The series will be broadcast Monday to Friday at 09:30 and 16:25 and repeated at the  weekends at 9:25 and 17:15
