UTV Ireland is now seeking programme ideas from Independent Production Companies

UTV Ireland is now seeking programme ideas from Independent Production Companies for the next round of the Broadcasting Funding Scheme (Sound & Vision II).

UTV Ireland launches on 1 January 2015 and will reach out to a broad demographic across Ireland, having secured public service status.

They have reached agreement for carriage on Sky, UPC and eVision as well as on Saorview. The new television channel will be available on Sky channel 116, UPC channel 110, and eVision channel 108, while the Saorview channel number will be allocated shortly.

They are seeking ideas under the following headings:

  • Observational documentary and lifestyle programming – UTV Ireland is looking for a series made up of half hours that reflect contemporary Irish society. The series should have a wide appeal to a peak time audience
  • Anniversary of 1916 – UTV Ireland welcome programming submissions that will celebrate and reflect the centenary of 1916. Consideration should to be given to the next 100 years and the legacy that will be left to the next generation. Instead of retrospective programming, programme ideas will be welcomed that celebrate the anniversary

UTV Ireland will accept a maximum of two submissions per company for each category - one page per idea plus an indicative budget is all that is required at this stage. Ideas must be sent via email only to commissioning@utv.ie. Postal submissions will not be accepted. The closing date for programme submissions is Monday 22 December at 12noon.
